TerriS Posted March 4, 2008 Report Share Posted March 4, 2008 I really hope that this is the appropriate forum to post this question.Anyway, just over two weeks ago, My computer stopped producing sound.Windows Media Player said "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." I also realized that my device manager had a yellow exclamation mark next to C-Media AC97 Audio Device under Sound, video and game controllers. My understanding of this is that my Audio driver has dissappeared. After alot of research I finally located and downloaded the driver (at driverguide.com) to this device and the install said that it was successful. However, the device manager still shows a yellow exclamation mark beside the device, I still have no sound, and I am still getting the same message from Windows Media Player.
