chomerly
Hi all,I have an HP NX6325 (Formally Compaq) And i want to connect it to my Xbox 360 via the wired connection and use the wireless to connect to my wireless router. The problem is, every time i plug in my ethernet cable the laptop automatically turns off my wireless connection.I've tried bridging the connections and other basic stuff but no matter what i do, until i unplug the ethernet cable, the wireless connection will not turn back on.Is there any way around this or am i going to have to accept that it's the limitations of my laptop? Raddy
That's a really interesting problem, because by default the wireless connections are supposed to operate together. What I *think* might be happening is that your laptop is getting confused because the Xbox is sending an IP request to your laptop, and your laptop is sending a request to the Xbox. It may even be using your laptop as a router to the Xbox, though I'm not sure how likely this is. So what I would try is setting your Xbox to have a static IP address, such as 192.168.1.2 and setting your laptop ethernet connection to have a static IP also, 192.168.1.1. This will allow you to communicate with your Xbox and hopefully resolve the issue.Another problem might be that you need whats called a crossover cable. The ethernet cable has designated send and receive pins, and what might be happening is that they're both trying to send information on the same pin. Most newer network cards have what's called autonegotiation which will flip the send and receive pins on one of the cards, but this is not always the case.Anyway, hope this helps, let me know how it goes.
