Print spooler is GONE please help!

Recommended Posts

I have no idea how it happened, but my computer suddenly has no print spooler. :shok: Everything was ok until 3 wks ago & I've been searching & trying everything under the sun since then to fix the thing. First I just couldn't see the printer/it wouldn't work, when I click to instal new printer I got an error message. I followed step by step instructions to clean the registry & that didn't work. I followed instructions to go to manage services & manually turn on the spooler, but then I got an error saying "File could not be found." Smartie that I am, I figured I'd prove the computer wrong and find the spooler myself, thinking it was just not working. But when I went file by file, sure enough the spooler isn't there at all. So I got the directions & tried to install from my original disk, but can't access the disk eiter. In the end, nothing has worked and I'm more frustrated than ever.

:( Anyone know how I can just instal a new spooler for windows XP?? Where I can find it, how to install it, etc. PLEASE! Any help is really appreciated! I am ready to just wipe everything out & reinstall the whole system just because then it would be over with.

Welcome to the Windows Forum.

You mentioned an "original disk" - is this the disk that came with your printer? If so, most likely you can find the software on that disk on the printer manufacturer's support website.

What is the exact model of your printer?

The original disk I mention is that of the computer itself - windows xp, but I did try the printer's too. The problem isn't with the printer. It will work on other computers, just not the one I use- the one I need it for. We have another printer, older one, but that doesn't work either. The computer doesn't allow me to install any printer at all.
