Hopefully someone can help me.....

My boss has Outlook 2003. She has 6 different Address books relating to different functions of the company. For various reasons she wants all emails sent to her who are in one of those address books to be sent to a particular folder. I know I could go through each address individually and create a rulñe to do the above OR put all email addresses in each of the address books into a distribution list and THEN make a rule for the distribution list. However, the members of the different address books change quite often AND new addresses get added frequently. Therefor she would have to remember to add new addresses that get added to a particular book AND remove addresses which are removed from one of the books.

Is there a way to add the individual books so that the up to date contacts in each of the adress books are included in the rule. A kind of dynamic distribution list if you will

Welcome to the Windows Forum.

A tough question, but there is no doubt that the answer is no - Outlook rules are very limited (including the number of rules, which I believe is 32).

The only way I can imagine to solve this problem is by writing an Outlook Add-on that would perform this functionality. Of course it is quite possible that someone else had the same problem before, and that such an Add-on already exists. Google may help you with that. Or the microsoft.public.outlook.general / microsoft.public.outlook.program_addins / microsoft.public.outlook.program_vba newsgroups.

I use lycos as a free email address and it has a facility whereby:

you add folders as required

when you select an email to move it from your in folder to the newly created folder it gives you the option to always place emails from this person into this account.

I only have the free version but someone might be able to tell you if it is possible to use outlook and lycos in conjunction.

Thank you for your comment. However, I don't understand the "it" you mention twice; could you be more specific what "it" is?

Also, later you mention "the free version"; of what?

Outlook has so little restriction feature but if you want do it then you may use Lotus Notes. Hope it will solve your problem.
