MacOSXrocksToo
Hi, My dad's work laptop came with Windows Vista, and he wanted XP, so I wiped the Vista partition and got XP on it. I have managed to find every driver so far, except for the Wireless one, the most important to him. I really need your help to find this driver, the computer is a Compaq Presario C700, but on the website, it says Compaq Presario C700T, after scanning my computer, whatever it is, any driver links would be greatly appreciated. I have the HP Wireless Assistant installed also. The wireless light on the button on the computer always stays Amber, but it shows it being turned on and off in the tray icon of HP Wireless Assistant. That problem does not matter to me, I just really need a driver extremely bad.Thank You So Much!!! :D
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Use DriverMax to find out exactly what device it is; it should then be easy to find the appropriate driver. (DriverMax does not offer driver downloads for XP; only Vista.)
MacOSXrocksToo
ok, drivermax does not show any wireless card in the list of all the drivers for the hardware, but I am sure I have one because there is a button on my computer for wireless and I was able to connect to networks when this computer had vista. Is there any other way to get the driver?Thank You!!!BTW, my dad is going to the macy stores tomorrow morning to program the phone systems, please can somebody help me find this before tomorrow morning? ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
The only thing I can think of is again DriverMax, to run 'Identify unknown hardware' and 'Detailed hardware information'. As long as we don't know the exact type of the wireless device, we cannot possibly find a driver for it.
MacOSXrocksToo
Ok, He said he will just take it and plug it into a Ethernet Port on the Hub at the Macy's. Thanks for helping me trying to find it though, maybe I can browse the disk that came with the computer, and try and make the Vista Driver work with XP, if it doesn't is there a way to manually install it?Thanks! :D
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Did you get a component list with that computer? If so, it may list the device you are looking for.
MacOSXrocksToo
Yes, that is a good point! When his company bought the computer, it came with a piece of paper showing all the specs and stuff, maybe its on there!! :D
