Da_maniaC
Hey there,Just recently i noticed that after every game, may it be Gears of War or DosBOX (Just to name a few examples) my desktop wallpaper completely dissapears when i return to my desktop. The desktop is just completely black. (Of course the icons and start menu are there.... its just the background missing). When i right click the desktop and choose properties the desktop background immediatly pops back when i choose 'Desktop background' menu option.I never had this before, it has nothing to do with lag or something from quitting the games either and this just started appearing very recently.I run Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP1 and my system specs are: Core2Duo E8400, 4GB OCZ ReaperX PC6400, 2 x WD RaptorX in RAID0, XFX Geforce 8800GTX Xtreme Edition. If anyone could help me out that would be great. :)

ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Have you tried a System Restore to a time before the problem started?
Da_maniaC
Have you tried a System Restore to a time before the problem started? No i haven't, but since every single problem i ever encountered in my life had a solution i dislikethe anology of just doing system restore as well.I've found out that the issue is partly caused if something happens with the file carrying your background in your user folder. If this is resaved with a bitmap instead of a jpeg things seem to work fine as long as the file does not get corrupted.(Or whatever makes it cause not to display). Da_maniaC
I've nailed down the problem to the fact that setting a Desktop background when using the Windows Vista Photo Gallery will not be resumed to display after returning to the desktop.Setting a wallpaper with Internet Explorer or Irfanview however, will work just fine....Its almost like the filename of the set desktop when using Photo Gallery is too long and therefore is not retreived after returning to the desktop.
