Vista updates problem

Recommended Posts

Small problem with Vista updates.

Actually, it isn't small at all. Normal at first, after installing updates I'm asked to restart the computer so I do. On startup I get an error which states that a certain file is missing or corrupt; C:\Windows\System32\winload.exe or something of the like. So I repair the startup procedure with the Vista DVD, once restarted the message "Configuring updates" continues for a good 30 minutes, sometimes restarting and doing it all again.

When I start the computer normally, even though I had not installed updates previously, I still get the "Configuring updates" message although it doesn't last as long.

Any thoughts?
