Ravun Posted August 2, 2008 Report Share Posted August 2, 2008 My brother's PC freezes at the Windows XP loading screen. It boots in safe mode just fine, but not otherwise. I'd like to enable logging, but I can't get it to boot to even check the log. I added /sos /noguiboot /bootlog to my boot.ini and tried booting up normally and saw that the last driver that loads is Mup.sys and then it hangs. I then booted in safe mode and checked the bootlog and the next driver after Mup.sys is ACPI Multiprocessor PC. I'm assuming the PC is freezing when it's trying to load that? In safe mode it says "Did not load driver ACPI Multiprocessor PC".Does it seem like that's causing the error? Could it be an issue with the motherboard shorting out or something with the hardware?Thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Slyke Posted August 7, 2008 Report Share Posted August 7, 2008 When was the last time you formatted the PC?I had this problem on one of my old computers. It hadn't been formatted in like 3 years. A format cleaned it right up. Works now without freezing at all. Scan disk and defrag might of helped, but i wanted to clean out some junk too. Web host guys Posted August 11, 2008 Report Share Posted August 11, 2008 This is a long shot here, but try pressing F8 during bootup and use the safe mode with confirmation option and see if your freezing on MUP.SYS, if so it might be Daemontools SPTD file causing issues again.That one is infamous for causing windows xp not to boot up.
