XP install on RAID array

Hey everyone

I subscribed to this forum specially for a major problem Im experiencing when installing XP on a RAID0 drive.

-I have a raid 0 drive. It exists 2 Samsung F1 1TB disks. So a total of 2x1 = 2Terabyte. These are 2 identicall disks.

-Ive been able to install XP on the RAID0 drive before with the same installation disk.

-I have (Had) windows XP professional 32BIT and Vista ultimate 64BIT in dualboot.

My problem started 3 days ago.

I was on my RAID0 dualboot on Windows XP pro 32bit and I downloaded some wrong files. Mostly im very carefull on what im downloading. But I was a bit tipsy and unaware of possible treats. So suddenly my computer got infect with several virusses (Very bad luck) and even microsoft windows services began to fail. explorer.exe for example. At a certain moment I was even unable to go on the internet. My computer got infected on my XP partition but moments later I tried to log onto Vista ultimate and the virusses even spread to my Vista partition. Since Vista also began to show symptons of quiting microsoft services and internet failure.

So I realized had a serious problem. I brainstormed on ideas for a few more hours and then realized formatting and reinstalling XP and vista might do the trick.

To make a perfect dualboot I had to install XP first ofcourse. So I put in my Windows XP disk. After loading all the files from the CD i got a BSOD with the following BSOD 0x0000007B (0XF78D2524 0xc0000034 0x00000000 0x00000000

So I restarted my computer hoping the BSOD just goes away. It luckily did. So I formatted my C:/ drive without problems and tried to install XP. It did without problems. But when I reached the fifth step of the XP installation I got a BSOD again. The pc Started again and I tried to continue the fifth step of the installation (Where I have to make a account) But upon loading Windows the PC crashes again with a BSOD dissapearing in 0,001 of a second. So I started formatting my Drive again. Which didnt work cause at 40% of formatting the status bar jumps to 100%. After a 15 minutes wait the computer says formatting failure. Probably one of the drives may be damaged.

So I runned CHKDSK. CHKDSK said the harddisk might be damaged. That wasnt really accurate so I disabled my RAID0 array and tested each single drive in another machine with Samsung diagnostics. It appeared all drive are working fine. So I was really confused when I heard that.

After that I desperately tried to reinstall Windows over and over again. I also tried a quik format which seemed to work but then I got up with the same problem again on the fifth step of the installation getting the blue screen again. I even tried like 10 floppy disks with the RAID drivers on it. My XP is 32BIT so Im using the 32BIT drivers. The 64BIT drivers wont even install.

I realized Windows XP was a no go. So I tried to install Vista ultimate 64BIT. Then I got even more confused. Because Windows Vista installed without any problem. In fact im typing this message on my vista ultimate and I also installed it on the RAID0 array. Which proofs the harddisks are fine and the other hardware to.

So i examined both my XP pro installtion disks (I have two of them and tried to install xp with both the disks) they had no scratches. Well a few but that is normal. It was nothing serious.

I did everything about this. I looked for the BSOD error on google and watched every forum and every site with people experiencing the same BSOD error. Unfortunately nobody seems to have ever had the same problem I have with the same BSOD error. So im still nowhere.

It would really be great if you people could help me. I know I have a OS installed now but I really Need XP installed. I need both Vista and XP for certain purposes.

probably nobody can help me since I already posted my problem on like 10 other forums.

Welcome to the Windows Forum.

Firstly, BSOD 0x0000007B is INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE - you should find lots of information on this via Google.

A malware infection is a bad thing, but that shouldn't lead to an immediate OS reinstall; there may be many more problems lurking - as you have experienced. The first step usually is to scan your system with good anti-malware, e.g. at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

But anyway, that's already too late in your case. Do I also assume that you don't have a backup of your partitions? That's another thing you should have; if something bad happens, just restore your backup(s). A good backup software is Acronis True Image.

Now check Google for your specific BSOD - I cannot quite believe that you are the only one experiencing this. Also I'm sure that there are solutions out there.

No i dont have Backups of my partitions. However I did scan my computer with several virusscanners I just forgot to mention it in my topic. I had NOD32 Security suite installed and scanned with the virus and spyware scanner. Also I scanned Spybot S&D. Yes there were alot of treats. With several of them I was unable to quarantaine or delete. I also wanted to try HIJackthis but Realized I coudnt download it because of my internet. But believe me when I say that Windows services began to fail. It was so severe that I really doubt if easy tasks were even still possible on the machine. But perhaps I should have download Hijackthis on another machine and transfered it to my computer.

But instead I formatted my computer.

And I also mentioned I searched google for that BSOD. And I cant really find anything except for some related problems. But anything I tried didnt help.

Maybe Ill do a last search on google. But anyway I still appreciate your help.
