It's incompatible with some of the audio equipment I have so I want to install Windows XP pro. I don't have enough time to do a complete reinstallation so I want to install it on one of my partitions. I have 2 partitions on my main hard drive, C (NTFS) and D (NTFS) (the laptop came this way). D is basically empty, it has 16.4 GB of free space out of 17.2, and I was going to use it for the XP pro installation.My questions are:1. Do I need to do anything to the D drive before the install, or can I just go for it?2. Is 16.4 GB large enough for XP Pro?3. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted October 29, 2008 Report Share Posted October 29, 2008 Welcome to the Windows Forum.Make sure that your D: drive is a primary partition (bootable), not a logical one.When you install Windows in a second partition, it will automatically enable the Windows Boot Manager, so you can select which partition to boot at startup.16MB is a bit tight, but if you don't install too many applications, it should be OK.
