René Posted February 5, 2009 Report Share Posted February 5, 2009 Hi allA few days ago I changed the settings for Windows Update (Vista Ultimate, 32 bit, 4 Gb RAM), from "Updates for Windows" to "Updates for Windows AND OTHER PRODUCTS.Now Windows has downloaded and tried to install 11 updates for MS Office 2003 a lot of times, and everytime I close my computer the update fails.Other updates installs succesfully. Only updates for MS Office 2003 fails.I have tried closing and starting up the computer with the Office 2003 Cd in the drive, but it did't not help me.I also tried with the original Admin account, but it did not resolve the problem neither. To prevent Windows to try installing those 11 updates for MS Office everytime I shut dowm my computer I now really want to go back to Windows update only and not my current setting for "Updates for Windows AND other products".Can anyone help me to how I can change my setting BACK, so I can remove the updates for OTHER PRODUCTS, and just keep the automatically setting for "Updates to Windows".Thank you.Sorry for my bad English (I'm danish).René Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Security updates should be applied to all products, not just Windows.However, to help you solve your problem we will need the error code you get from the failed updates: go to http://www.update.microsoft.com/, then click on 'Review your update history' on the left hand panel. René Posted February 7, 2009 Author Report Share Posted February 7, 2009 The error codes will be in hexadecimal format like 0x00000000; this is the only way to tell what prevents the updates from being installed.Pat,Thank's for your interest.Unfortunately I can't find any red Icons to click on.I can Right clik and get the details in a new msg box.When I download one of the updates and try to install manual I get the following error message:The message is in Danish, and it informs that it was not possible to write a key to the Registry.I'm logged on as admin, and notice that all other updates installs succesfully - but not those concerning Office 2003.Thank you.
