moving to new print server

Recommended Posts

Hello. I recently built a new print server and copied the print queues from the old print server to the new server. Several desktop computers are now printing to the new server and it's working fine. I've got about 100 desktop computers that need to be re-configured to send print jobs to the new print server. I don't want to visit every desktop because that would be a big, time consuming undertaking. Does anyone know of software that can make connections to desktop computers and modify their print settings? Any advice on automating the process of re-configuring desktops to send print jobs to a new server would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Windows Forum.

This can possibly be achieved with Group Policy, but I wouldn't know how to do it. What I would do in your situation is send an email message with detailed instructions to all users. That would probably be the quickest and easiest. Those who cannot do it by themselves can still ask you to come by.
