Windows 2003 shutting down by itself

Recommended Posts

I have a web server running on windows 2003.

The computer is shutting itself down after about an hour after I leave it alone (should be running 24/7, at least it used to be). I have checked the power management and only the screen should be turned off.

I have checked the BIOS to see if the computer cuts out at a certain temperature, but I can''t find that option so don't actually know if this motherboard can do that. The other thing is that this room is cold so it has never had a problem before.

Any advice on what to look for?

Sorry to have to put another post but it won't let me edit my above post again :(

I have found the problem for those that are reading this if they had the same problem.

Microsoft has designed windows 2003 server to be used as a domain controller - I seem to be one of the very few who wish to have it as a workgroup (I have reasons for this). To make it a workgroup I needed to 'demote' the machine from being the controller but (here's where it gets silly) Microsoft only allows it to be a non-domain for 7 days and then it gives you 60 minutes to change it back or it shuts the server down!!. Each time you start the server you are given another 60 minutes before it shuts it down again!
