880202 - verifying what is written

hi

in DOS there was two modes for writing on hard disks. when verify was ON the OS had to verify what was written after writing to make sure that it had written successfully.

there's still this option available in XP for cmd.exe. but after exiting the console box it will be discarded and loses the scope. i'm not sure whether the OS pays attention to this mode too.

i like to know whether there's an option in XP to verify written blocks of data to hard disks after it writes? i like this option for ALL write operations, not only the console box.

since one of my hard disks is erroneous, i like to make sure that i won't lose my files again.

thx
