Now on to the questions at hand:I've recently bought a 32" LCD TV and have my PC plugged in so it's my big new monitor. Since I use WinXP sometimes it's hard to view certain things while being on a couch. If I were to "upgrade" to WinVista would my desktop be scaled to fit the 1920 x 1080 resolution the TV recommends? I know this wouldn't fix all problems, I've tried playing certain games at the resolution and it just makes the text miniature. Also is there any software that could be downloaded to help with the scaling so I can stay on WinXP?My next question is performance. I've looked for a new performance review of WinVista in 09 but the ones I've been finding seem... misleading... So I'm curious, is now a good time to "upgrade" to WinVista? I have 4GB of RAM and I know XP can only use about 2 or 2.5 of that so if I bumped over to Vista would I see a performance gain or decrease? Have you tried (right-click your desktop | Properties, tab Settings)? Also, does your new monitor come with its own device drivers?Regarding 4GB of RAM: both Windows XP and Vista can address all RAM if you have the 64bit version. I know I can change the resolution to 1920 x 1080, I've done that but it makes everything veryyy small. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted May 1, 2009 Report Share Posted May 1, 2009 1920 x 1080 will be the same on any operating system - it will most likely be very small.Re 64bit - this really only makes sense if you have a 64bit capable processor. You still can run most traditional 32bit software in compatibility mode, but I am not so sure about device drivers. But only with a 64bit OS you will be able to access most of your RAM.
