My computer is having problems opening certain webpages

Hello

My home computer started to become quite slow and is having problems loading some web pages. I know there is nothing wrong with the web pages because I have used my laptop to view them without any problems. The web page does open but the slide show does not load or does so very slowly. I also had some ftp problems where Dream Weaver had to shut down, this all developed at the same time.

I did a scan using Clamwin and then removed that, and used Avg see screen shot below for results. Avg found 12 problems which have been put in the vault. I was hoping that that would solve my problem but it did not.

I was thinking to do use CCleaner to see if that would solve any problems, but I don't really know how to use it. I know I must make a back up first but I have no idea what the Analyzed table is showing or what to scan.

What trouble shooting can I do to find the cause to my computers problems?

CCleaner does not remove malware, but is very good at cleaning unused "crap" from your computer.

It is very easy to use, but uncheck the 'cookies' from all your web browsers until you have configured the cookies you want to keep.

Don't bother with the "registry cleaning" portion of CCleaner; it will not help you to improve anything on your slow system.

Run another malware scanner, e.g. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall7/

Have you tried using another browser temporarilly, to see if it is browser related. For example Fire Fox or opera?

If its only happening with loading of web pages then you might want to check the amount of open connections to the internet on that one PC. Close any programs that use the internet i.e IE and messenger etc.

netstat then press enter

Count the number of lines that are returned and then post back :)
