Error Trying to play Halo

Recommended Posts

Ok, so i just formatted my HDD and reinstalled Windows XP Professional along with every update available and all my latest drivers. When I installed Halo and went to play it I got this error.

After researching it for a bit, using "DXDIAG" I narrowed the activity to this.

So I'm at a dead end with this error. Can anyone help?

What version of DirectX do you have installed? (DXDIAG, tab System.)

You can download the latest version from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...6A-9B6652CD92A3

When I attempted to download the newest version from the link you provided me with, it said I had a newer or equivalent version. From the DXDIAG, tab System, the version is - DirectX 10.0(4.10.0000.3311).

You have DirectX 10? I thought that was for Vista only?

How did you get it - as part of your game? If so, I think you should contact your game's developers.

No its not vista only, When I install my Nero7, it comes with DirectX9, and when I run my Windows Update, it installed DirectX10. I would contact my game's developers but the problem lies in DirectX, the game is not running because of Direct3D post-14622-1249061975_thumb.jpg

I've never had a problem like this and I have no idea how to fix it.

I just remembered, you are thinking of DirectX 11, while I was searching Microsoft's Website, I cam across DirectX 11 and when I attempted to download it, it said Vista only.

OK i might have found a solution to this... how would I uninstall DirectX 10? i believe my problem lies with that version. Many people in FAQ sites and other Forum sites that hte web has lead me to says that they have problems with DirectX 10... and on my notebook where Halo is actually working, it has directx 9 installed. So i would like to uninstall 10 and install DX9. How would I uninstall DX10?

OK THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED. THE ERROR IS CAUSED DUE TO DIRECTX 10... ONLY USE DX9 ON XP
