installation of XP on vista restarts repeatedly

Hi,

I've bougth a new laptop with preinstalled Vista. I want to donwngrade to windows Xp, but the installation of XP restarts repatedly. Every time it asks

for any key to boot from CD, it loads all drivers and the other stuff and just before the licence agreement screen, "windows restart" appears in the left down corner

for a very short time and the installation restarts. Then it ask for any key to boot from CD again and when I do not hit any key, Vista boots up. When I hit some key the CD loading

repeats untill the licence aggrement and restarts again.

I have tried to shrink disk space from Vista management because I have read, that this should be done before installing other system, but it doesnt help.

Then I thought it could be because of wrong SATA driver which I have added to installation CD, but that would end on no disk found error and not in installation restart.

I have tried to boot with 64b XP and 32b XP but everithing was the same.

I was thinking about complete format of all partions, but that is the last chance, because there is lenovo partition with preinstalled vista and I don't want to delete it

before I am certain that my XP works correctly.

Any help would be appreciated,

I have tried another CD with 32bit version and it works. So it seem it was wrong CD. But the issue with 64bit version still remains (I have also tried other CD).

I have Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T6500 which should support 64bit XP.

Any idea?

It has never been easy to "downgrade" an OS; much easier to just buy the machine with the desired OS preinstalled. (Dell still sells machines with XP.)

Installing a different OS on a second partition is another choice, but here too it is not easy to install an older OS beside a newer OS, especially since Vista has a new boot manager.

Best is to activate the Vista boot manager, then install XP under that boot manager. I couldn't tell you how to do that, as I do not have Vista.
