vista won't boot

Not sure what to do with this. I've got a Toshiba satellite laptop running vista home premium. Nothing new was added, but it refuses to boot. On start-up, it says "windows failed to load" and gives the option to start normally, or run repair. When you pick either one it attempts to reboot, shows the windows loading screen with the green load bar for a minute, then the screen goes black and the cursor pops up, you can move the cursor around normally, but nothing ever loads behind it. Just a black screen with a cursor.

When I try to go into safe mode, it shows the list of drivers it's loading but always gets hung-up after it loads "\windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys after a short time the BSOD flashes and it restarts. Unable to read the BSOD message because of the restart.

When I try to boot from the recovery cd, same as above, gets to windows loading screen, then black screen with a cursor?
