Soul-Fusion
Hi,I'm placing this in the Windows forum and not the network fourm because I think it could be a Windows issue although I could be wrong.Got this weird problem and I can find the problem talked about on the net but not a solution and I was wondering if anyone have come across it before. It is a domain environment with 2003 servers and XP desktops.I need to map a network drive from XP to file server eg. \\server\share1So I map it but when I double click it through My Computer is says access denied. I have also tried right click open. This is the strange part.If I start run \\server\share1 it opens. If I right click the mapped drive and click explore it works through windows explorer. This indicates that permissions are 100% correct. If I map lets say \\server\share1\folder it works through My Computer and also if I map \\server\share2 it works.People that already have this drive mapped are working ok.New install of Windows XP and an older install. Desktops are Dell Optiplex 755.Tried removing and adding from the domain and resetting local sec policy and installing all Windows updates. Tried using "net use" command. Tried removing and adding Client for MS networks. It’s happening to a few PCs now which is starting to be a slight problem.I'm reluctant to recreate the share as there is 200 GB of everyones data in it but its one thing I havent tried and want to exhaust all avenues before I decide to do that. Thanks for the help.
