heyguysilikelinux
Hi, I think I need to explain my setup procedure for installing windows to make this make sense.I blanked my harddrive and I copied over my backup drive to the last 20 gigs of the partition table (using ext3 for a filesystem). Then I installed Windows on the rest of the drive and for some reason it called the partition I was making for Windows E:\ instead of C:\ (reminds me of how much I hate the drive labeling XP does). Then after that I shrunk that and installed Ubuntu along side it. So this might be a grub thing.Anyway, after a couple of reboots windows runs chkdsk (or whatever it's called) at startup because it didn't call the partition I installed it on C:\ (because C:\ and drive labeling is archaic bullshit) and after it ran that it wanted to reboot and now it freezes at the XP logo with the blue background.Any ideas about what went wrong? heyguysilikelinux
Also there is a bug on this forum. I most certainly did not register with a username asdfasdf. (however the username I did register with was "heyguysilikelinux").
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Welcome to the Windows Forum.I don't know why/how you got registered as 'adfsadsf', but if you like I can change your display name to 'heyguysilikelinux'.I also don't know why Windows setup made you a E: partition - maybe C: was already in use? Or is it the 3rd partition on the disk? B.t.w. did you format it, or Windows setup? Was it formatted as a primary partition?

My ubuntu install is the primary partition. But as I mentioned in the original post I was using windows and linux at the same time for a while before the CHKDSK thing. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Ok, your display name has changed. But I think your login name is probably still 'adfsadsf' - I don't know if this can be changed at all.So you already had a C: drive, and possibly a D: as well (CD-ROM, DVD?), so Windows setup selected E:, which shouldn't be a problem. But I believe it needs to be a primary partition in order to boot (each HD can have up to 4 primary partitions (I think)).Can you check if it is a primary partition?
