technohobbit17
I tried to set up RDC on my home computer so I can access my files from a computer at school. I could connect remotely from the other computer in my house using my computer name and my local IP address, but not my global IP address. At school, I can't connect to it with anything. I made sure I set it not to go to sleep while I am at school, but it is still not working. The school computer is not the problem, because my teacher could remote in to his come computer from my student account and told me I have the correct privelages.Does anyone know what the problem could be?Thanks. xp pro
Are you sure your not missing the port number at the end of the ip or domain name to connect to that specific computer.Default port is: 3389but if your connecting via a ip address or domain to the network first you may also need to assign a port to go to that specific computer.Possibly in the firewall settings changing the port number for RDP for example to 3390 making sure it does not conflict may help. And when you try connecting use the following parameter when connecting IPADDRESS:3390 (192.168.1.1:3390)But if machine is connected to a domain you may need to setup the remote routing access to route port 3389 > 3390 Let me know how you get on.
