Internet browsing in virtual environment within Win XP

Hi -

I am looking for virtualization recommendations (preferably open source). I have a netbook running Windows XP, and I would like to run Internet Explorer/ Firefox within a virtual environment that is isolated from the Windows XP OS (to avoid malicious web applications and other shenanigans). Since the netbook has limited RAM and disk space, I am trying to avoid a full blown OS virtualization such as VirtualBox. Preferably, the virtualization server is a thin encapsulation around the browser application that only provides the resources needed by the application (within certain user-defined limits), isolates the environment from the rest of the system, and optionally provides for file-sharing only via designated shared folders.

Put another way, I am looking for virtualization without the need to duplicate an OS kernel within the virtual environment.

Any suggestions?

Looks promising -- it's certainly appears to meet the specifications as it states that it supervises:

Files, Disk Devices, Registry Keys, Process and Thread objects, Driver objects, and objects used for Inter-process communication: Named Pipes and Mailbox Objects, Events, Mutexs (Mutants in NT speak), Semaphores, Sections and LPC Ports.

. I do find it more than a bit ironic that Sandboxie is a closed-source security program with the slogan of "Trust no program!" I'll certainly take a closer look and test it out.
