locked file folders

A month or so ago I upgraded from Vista home premium to win 7 home premium. I noticed even after I put in the key and activated win 7 the my documents, my pictures my video, and re-cycle bin are locked. I can't figure out why. I tried putting the license key in again but they are still locked.

What do you mean by "locked" - do you get an error when trying to access these folders?

there is a lock on the file folder, and I can't get the folders to open up. I get C:\"filename" is not accessable. Access denied.

I've found that's a common problem when upgrading. Here's the solution i've found:

"Right click on the folder and then click on the Security tab. Click on "Advanced". Then Select "Change Permissions" in the Advanced window. Another window should open that shows the Permission entries, one of which should be "Deny". Remove it and then apply it. Should unlock the folder."
