madcatz panther dx joystick not working in win7-64

I can't get my old madcatz panther dx joystick to work in Windows 7 64-bit

it comes up as a " unknown usb device" in device manager

I can't see why this joystick would not work in Windows 7-64-bit

It's works fine in winxp-64-bit and Ubuntu 64-bit,

it's even plug and play on my win98 pc

but that does not surprise me seeing as how old it is

it's a HID compatible usb joystick

I have tried the madcatz drivers

but they will not install

I tells me that they can not be install because they are 32-bit drivers and I'm using a 64 version of windows

the joystick does work in my older win98 and winxp systems

so the joystick is working

any one know of any thing I can do to help it work ?

You need to install the appropriate 64-bit drivers in order for the device to work.

Your best bet is to download, install & run http://drivermax.com/ (the free version, which allows you two driver downloads per day), then let it search for "unknown" devices and find the drivers for them.
