Outlook Express - storing mail

Recommended Posts

XP SP3 using Outlook Express, I store my sent mail a year or two in at separat partition on the HD.

Even when I delete after a year or two, the .dbx file doesn't shrink. And the applet asking if I want to compress my messages are now appearing every 10th minute. Obviously worried on my behalf.

How can I reassure the poor fellow? There is a lot of space in my HD.

Pretty sure you will have to backup your emails then recreate the .dbx file either by renaming or deleting the file.

so backup your emails rename the .dbx file then create another file naming it Sent Items1.dbx then delete the original then remane the new one Sent Items.dbx

Im not 100% this will work though as after performing this you may have to repair outlook using the built in utility.

let me now how you get on!
