picture quality

happy holidaze to all!

when i8'm on a website, and the website has pics...the pic is very blurry. if i hover the mouse over it i get the message "shift +r improves the quality of this image etc etc"

is there a setting so that pics are viewable properly without having to press shift + R

pain in the .....

I have never seen this; can you show me a website where this occurs?

Or is it your browser that is doing this - what browser & version are you using?

If its IE8 you might want to look at smooth image dithering Go to > options under Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > multimedia - i think as i use firefox

you might want to check the device manager for any issue's with the video card maybe.... long shot but i think the first option will do it.

and check DPI settings are set at 96.... maybe

i am using firefox 3.5.16 .

where are the DPI settings.

lets say for example <grin> i'm looking at a page of thumbnails, i can barely make out what the thumbnails are, if i press shift +r the pic loads normally, i'm sure its some kind of setting to make webpages load quicker (maybe)...stilllearning here :+)

happens with any webpage which has jpg's

i think its fixed, i went to tools...options....and checked smooth scrolling....thanks for the fast response...this has been bugging me for ages....gotta love the forums!

Could you maybe attach a screen shot of the issue just so i know exactly what we are looking at please? ;)

a screenshot will not show the issue on your computer...the jpegs are "pixelated"...enough pixels to make out the pic, but not enough pixels to make the pic "clear" like e photo should be...i KNOW this is just a setting which needs to be changed

Ok, well go to > control panel > appearance & personalization > Display / I cant see this being the issue here but worth a look.

make sure you have the latest flash player install too.

also check you have the latest Graphics driver installed too.

check all settings here.

also check your screen res too, just right click on empty space on desktop and select screen resolution.

I haven't came accross this issue before.

i'm sure it is a setting issue as when hovering over a thumbnail (not only thumbs, most online jpg's also) a little box pops up and say "shift+r improves this image, shift +a improves all images on this page"

so if i click shift +a all the pics will refresh in the form they were meant to be seen...i.e clear and sharp...instantly.

pics appear somewhat "blockish"...i.e small blocks making up the pic instead of tiny tiny pixels...you can see the pic, it just is not very detailed...not photograph like at all...hope that explains a bit better/

Ok sorry thought it was win7.

you should still clear the thumbnail cache because they can become corrupt and cause this, try using Ccleaner and use the cleaner.

You have checked your graphics driver??
