My question is...Am I able to set my computer 'parameters' for lack of a better word... such that if ANYTHING is downloaded via the internet, uploaded via an external drive, softwared installations, etc...that my computer will ask for a password to allow this to happen?This would come in handy because several people have access to my computer at work. And it would be the logical way of doing things. Unfortunately...all my necessary programs/backups etc... are on my 'adminstator' user account. This user administrator user account is the account my 2 employees use as well when they are on my computer. Now, that being said... I have 1 program (QB 2009) that we use constantly. I installed it in my 'administrator account' profile. My particular QB company file is updated and used everyday (in the administrator user account). What I've noticed when I set up a 'standard user' account(so we can all use this user account...so I can limit things if needed) is... I can make the programs 'accessible'. But..the huge issue is... running my QB in the new 'standard user' account and not having the company file 'share' the days data with that user acccount and the administrator account file of QBs. I hope that makes sense. I almost get the feeling that whatever 'user account' you installed your programs in and continually update files in, then when you switch user accounts...the files don't automatiacally 'update together'. So.. I see the HUGE possible flaw forthcoming if I utilize two user accounts. My company data will be not shared/synced with each user account.
