Guest Shirley_Crabtree Posted September 21, 2003 Report Share Posted September 21, 2003 My cousin has just bought a DVD writer and was about to fit it when she noticed the minimum cpu spec....1 GHZ!!!Her PC is a P3 866.Is it worth her fitting it and trying it or would she be better off just upgrading to a higher spec cpu?(Needs doing anyway really.)I can't attend the to PC myself and she is a bit panicky and non-techie.Is there any particular reason why it won't work with a P3 866?Cheers.Shirl. monkeyhanger Posted September 21, 2003 Report Share Posted September 21, 2003 Shirl.I would tend to agree with lb. Try it and see. Make sure it registers as ata33 and not pio. Also make sure that DMA is enabled on the hard disk/disks and the dvd writer.These things now tend to write at a variable rate, according to the system.Good luck.
