Windows 8 64BIT

Hi All - I probably should have looked into this before but anyway...

I've got a 64BIT Processor, when I bought the PC it was pre-installed with a 32BIT copy of Vista Ultimate. Today I downloaded Windows 8 and saved to portable media, so it boots from my USB stick. I performed a clean install and this gave me Windows 8 32BIT.

Is there any way I can go about changing this? Is it possible to downgrade back to Vista and use a 64BIT copy then start again to upgrade to Windows 8 64BIT, or would this be a problem as the 32BIT version would be on the USB stick?

Thanks!
