Windows 7 Home Premium speed issues

Okay, I use to have Windows 7 Ultimate and I absolutely loved it. I had no problems with it and it run perfectly on my computer.

My dad changed the OS and now I have Windows 7 Home Premium but I am having severe problems with it. Generally the speed is the same when I'm using internet explorer but when I started playing PC games with the new OS it slowed down considerably and was induced with huge lag. At first my computer would completely CRASH and when it started back up I would get a little notice saying that the Intel Graphics Card had been corrupted or something of that line. I tried resolving the graphics card issue and updated Adobe Flash Player but that only made it speed up a Tiny bit.

My father is trying to say that the Operating system has nothing to do with computer speed but obviously that's not the case here.

Maybe the OS can't handle the graphics in my game?

Maybe something got seriously messed up when it was installing the new OS?

Or maybe Windows 7 Ultimate is just faster?

I honestly don't know what to do I'm just trying to find out if there is anything that I can try before I delete Home Premium off my computer and get Ultimate back.

Windows 7 is Windows 7, whatever edition. Since the Home edition has less functionality, it may actually even be faster.

However, countless factors influence the actual performance, so I would make sure it is installed and tuned the same way as the earlier install. Make a list of all the differences, then start tuning.
