xadamz23 Posted October 18, 2003 Report Share Posted October 18, 2003 Ok, I feel stupid even asking this question but I havent messed with window's environment variables much.I want to set a variable to open a folder, just like the TEMP variable works.For my variable name I am using RECENT and the value is C:\documents and settings\administrator\recentI have rebooted my PC and this variable does not work. Error message says windows cant find file.What am I doing wrong?P.S. Guest Posted October 18, 2003 Report Share Posted October 18, 2003 i take it then that your user name is administrator - as you have typed it above will effect the variable for the administrator's recent folder. I think I tried setting it as a system variable and it still did not work. But I should be able to set it as a user variable anyways. xadamz23 Posted October 18, 2003 Author Report Share Posted October 18, 2003 I should add that I'm clicking start then run and typing my variable name in the run dialog box.It works when you type temp in the run dialog box.
