Prince of Sloth Posted October 25, 2003 Report Share Posted October 25, 2003 My pc was supposed to come with sound insulation in the casing, however a while back I opened it up for something and found that quelle surprise... Multivision had stiffed me or given me the Emperor's New Insulation. Rather than chasing them for a year I thought that maybe I'd stick some in myself - there are plenty of kits out there.However will such insulation (even if I manage not to cover up vents) incur heat penalties? moon Posted October 25, 2003 Report Share Posted October 25, 2003 You'd be better off with quieter components than lagging your box. The case itself acts as a heatsink and lagging its surface area with non heat conducting material is going to cause your internal temp. to rise dramatically. Offsetting this by installing extra fans is going to cause extra noise. Passive internal heat dissipation might be the answer but I've never tried it so I can't recommend a method.
