But the European Union has warned Greece: Drop it or get hauled into court for hampering the free movement of goodsIt's not as if the law is being effectively enforced eitherSuch rulings are unusual, pitting the judicial system against the state. The results are chaotic, according to Nikos Kakayanis, spokesman for the Hellenic Association of Internet Café Owners. "In Larissa, the police arrested an owner and seized 10 PCs from his store," Kakayanis said. Guest spook Posted February 14, 2003 Report Share Posted February 14, 2003 I wonder when PCA will pick up on this unfinished business?Had thought the matter closed, but having played games in Greece before (there's sod all else to do), the poor buggers are quite right to protest against this draconian legislation and the stubborn old farty, politicians that are trying so desperately to impose it. Hmm, perhaps it's because they've been 'owned' a few times by grand children in Mario Kart? Or maybe by some particularly disliked nephew/niece that visits on occasion (the offspring of a despised inlaw?) or something? The FEAR... I laugh now to think of this poor American guy I met whilst out in Greece, who'd spent the same amount of time stuck in Crete himself, he was attempting to get a football signing, and this was to be his break into European footy. Last I saw of him, he was still in Greece - he hated it. Hated the food, hated everything - he really must have loved football, to be so dedicated.Me, I stayed just a few days but enjoyed it, food and all. Could have stayed longer. Oh yeah, the YHA type place we stayed in (Athrodite Hotel?) had a computer for internet access (bit pricey though), and we played slot machine arcade games in Olympia - very nice place, but a bit quiet. Don't recall seeing internet cafes all over the place there though, seemed to be more about in Italy.Hey, I miss those days - I didn't even have a computer then, and to think, I could just get rid of this thing and buy me a ticket out there again...
