Craig Posted February 18, 2003 Report Share Posted February 18, 2003 I would say wait a while and buy a new 17".When you come round to buying one in the future you will probably find the price has come down again, so they wont be much more that £250 for a good quality one.Plus a 17" looks really good when playing DVD's and gaming.Craig. Tried 15" TFT monitor in the past, and it's much less functional (due to its size) than say a 17", if you're into gaming, DVDs and in general really.Seems like a good price though... but there's plenty around for similar amounts, so unless it was a secondary monitor with lesser use, I'd wait a bit for a decent 17" or get hagglling. Prince of Calcutta Posted February 20, 2003 Author Report Share Posted February 20, 2003 i think i'll get this. manged to get the price to £130! i don't watch any movies on my comp got a 29" wega for that and only play gta3 so i guess it should be ok. mainly use it for word processing and printing and going online ,most of the time. i'll use this till the end of the year or maybe early next year. by then i'm sure the prices of 17" should have dropped or maybe even a 19" :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you're going to be staring at it for hours on end then surely it's always worth getting the best you can reasonably afford. However when i spent £800 building a base unit, £440 on a monitor, £100 for a cordless keyboard and mouse, i realised all was fine as it all gets used at least 4 hours a day.I've had it for a year now, just did a quick calc, £3.70 a day.So on an hour basis, very cheap. Prince of Calcutta Posted February 21, 2003 Author Report Share Posted February 21, 2003 well pc, lots of expenses this month, which is why i kinda have to think 10 times before getting anything. don't plan to get anything major right at the moment and i think it's quite a good deal. and also quite nervous about tft screens with all the stories flying around about dead pixels and stuff( this one has none at the moment) . so this way i thought i can try it out for a bit before shelling out £350 or so for a proper monitor.
