Guest Dan
I'd like to try Sam and Max hit the road on my current pc, but the game is real old and was originally designed for MS Dos 5.0.Any chance it'll run?
Guest The Ghost of Inept Pig
Personal experience would say yes, but with no sound ( a la Speedball 2)Since I know how little that counts for (leading the sheltered life I do), I took to the web in search of articles relating to such things.I found this, which may not apply due to the fact that this version of Sam & Max was part of the Lucasarts Entertainment pack:..... it was with some excitement that I plucked the newly released LucasArts Entertainment Pack off a shelf in the run-up to Christmas. Four renowned adventure games that I had somehow never managed to play: Sam & Max Hit the Road, Full Throttle, The Dig, and Grim Fandango! It gets better. Not only have LucasArts re-released these games long after most other companies would consider them to be abandonware, they have actually preserved their legacy. Incredibly, these titles have all been updated to run on: Windows 95 OSR2, 98, 98SE, ME, 2000, and XP! Just put one of the CDs in your drive, double-click on the executable, and away you go down memory lane.(it's a very good pack of games by the way - recommended)Then I came across Sam & Max: The Unoffical website, which offers guides in getting the sound to run and, also, running the game with XP.Anyway, what harm can come of trying? Guest Dan
IP your my hero. Well aside from that - thanks a lot, will check out the site. (if it can get the sound running on Sam and Max whatever it suggests might work for speedball too!) The sound's kind of important to S&M as you might guess. (I honestly hadn't noticed the unfortunate abbreviation for the game before.) Cheers my man.
