Tankus
Britain's newest and most controversial nuclear plant does not work and has yet to produce a single finished product, senior sources at the company that runs it, BNFL, admitted yesterday. The IndependentThey have already run test slugs through the whole plant , before they had confirmed orders ...This means that the whole plant has been contaminated . It will cost far more to dismantle than it ever cost to build , then there is the disposal issue and cost of storage for centuries .... Hurdy
Tony Blair personally pushed through the go-ahead for the plant in 2001, against entrenched opposition from Michael Meacher, his then Environment minister. This man really has got a lot to answer for. Tankus
The original development and plans for this plant was under Thatcher/Major ...what was pushed under Bliar was the decision to go ahead with the contamination tests , when the economics of the plants viability looked totally shaky ....Cheaper in the long run to write off half a billion (?) on a failed , clean plant , than a dirty one ...
