wikoh Posted July 8, 2004 Report Share Posted July 8, 2004 I have the following two problems:1.The "TurnOff"-button at the users log-on screen (blue thing, WinXP) has disappeared as a result of me using some forced log-off techniques in a program I made - they where ment to be used by an earlier windows, and while it served it's purpose - it made the TurnOff button disappear, so even if no user is on, one has to log in just to use that turnoff-option on the start menu...2.Send to ("Compressed/ZIPed folder") now asks me whether I want to use it (windows built-in zip management) as the default program for handling .zips. I certainly do, but even though I say "yes", it pops up each time again. I think this may be the result of having used powerarchiver, which has since been uninstalled (properly from remove/add programs) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
-pops- Posted July 8, 2004 Report Share Posted July 8, 2004 Hello and :welcome: to Windows Forum.I note you're on XP so, for your first problem at least, can you use system restore to a time prior to this happening?Something I always do before making ANY changes to my machines is to do a full system backup so that if something does go awry, I have a good copy to fall back on. My point was that installing any program involves a risk that it won't go successfully. Some programs even set a restore point for you before installing, I prefer doing a backup for this.Now, what about a repair of the Windows setup?
