moon
The mains power here is flakey and flickers every time there's a dark cloud. I'm also on the same ring main as a fridge, which draws a lot when it powers up. What's a good UPS, where can I buy it at a sensible price and is it possible to run four machines off the same one ?These, and other, questions keep me awake nights. :)
Sir Radfordin
You could do worse than start here:http://www.apc.com/template/size/apc/index.cfm
moon
Cheers, Sir Rad. That came up with this- APC BACK-UPS 650VA 230V- at ninety quid but it's only for a single machine. I guess that something which would protect four machines is going to be waaaaaaaaaay expensive.
moon
Hmmm. Found that on eBuyer for seventy three. Serial connection though. I might have to get one for each of my two main machines and let the other two fight it out with the electricity company.
Scarecrow Man
APC makes a quality product. UPS is only a back-up. It doesn't mean your 100% safe and can run your computer for weeks without power...But I would recomend them for people who have power issues, or have sensitive data that cannot be lost.
