jaross
well heres the deal: I jsut got a new computer at my moms house and i have had a computer at my dads house for a while now. in my dads, we have a ATI Radeon 9600 with 256mb. At my moms, we just got a eVga Geforce FX 5700 Le with 256mb. i also just got Far Cry with the new computer. when i auto dectect settings for the graphics in far cry, on my dads compouter it sets everything to high. on my moms newer computer, it sets everything to low, not medium, but low. I would think that my moms computer would be better becuase it is newer, has a better processer and, i thought has a better video card. my dads computer is an AMD Athlon 2600 xp and my moms is a AMD Athlon 64 3000. Both are overclocked to 2.2 ghz (it is strange that they are both overclocked top the same speed but they are both at their limits for their cooling and such but that is a different issue). Anyway, i was woundering if the Geforce is actually a worse card then the Radeon or if my drivers are messed up for it or somthing.
Bluecow
What version Of the 9600 have you got pro/xt???? The LE is the weaker of the5700 range so that might be the problem Look at this guide. To see what the Radeon can do, your 5700LE is not reviewed so it may/not be better.D/load the new catalyst drivers from AMD......normally I don't bother ( never can tell the difference)but they definatly made a difference to my card.Hope this is some use in a very vague way :D

shield
I am using the same Readon Video card, and i think its pretty awesome. but on my Dell laptop i run winxp and i use the Geforce2 and it errors alot during game play... freezing, black screen, or sometimes choppy. but if i where to choose, it would be the readon
Prince of Calcutta
i think the 5700le is actually a 64bit memory card which might account for its low performance
