jcnj6
GreetingsI just purchased a used laptop with Windows 2000 (my first 2K)I signed on as Administrator (the default) and installed my programs and transfered my data filesI then found out I should have created a user first as I cannot access most of my stuff as a userI have a peer to peer network at homeI have to sign onto NT at work to use their printersI seem to have to create a new user to log onto NT (with my log-on identity)Any printers installed on one user cannot be accessed by other users (all users are myself)"My Documents" files are not accessable on other user names.I also use an Activesync with an iPaq pocket PC which can only be sync'd by the administratorI know that I am not seeing the simple solution on how to manage users, data and resourcesI need to know when to copy/paste (start menu), reinstall for each user, or use admin powers to allow access to programs and data.Or should I delete users, unistall programs, and start fresh as a new user?I have searched several forums, the microsoft database, checked in books, but cannot find instructions on how to handle this situationI would like a manual or other resource I can check back to as needed. To restate:I am and will be the only userI need to separately sign onto peer-to-peer or NT networkThanks to all who respondRich J
Scarecrow Man
http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_...ls/w2kuser.htmlAnd yes you should have created a user first. It's always a good idea to leave the administrator account for just that; Administrative purposes. It is not a huge problem though.Read the link I've provided as well as this, http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8...le+Search&meta=Ah the wonders of Google :D
