moon Posted October 4, 2004 Report Share Posted October 4, 2004 Some weeks ago I had Diskeeper Lite installed, but I thought it was a resource gobbler so I uninstalled it ( Faster now) I'd noticed that my boot screen hung on the Diskeeper Lite reference for longer than I wanted.Anyway, I searched the machine for any reference to it and found the last one in 'Autoexec.bat' Now, I don't really know what Autoexec.bat does , but I deleted the reference. No apparent harm done, but my boot screen now shows C;\REM TrShoot Diskeeper Lite, so I assume that the boot sequence is looking for it - and it's gone.How can I get rid of this reference ? r4may Posted October 4, 2004 Report Share Posted October 4, 2004 Autoexec.bat, with config.sys, are mainly for loadig Dos operations and is not normally used within windows since win98 SE. I have a completely empty autoexec.bat and config.sysC;\REM TrShoot Diskeeper Lite, so I assume that the boot sequence is looking for it - and it's gone.How can I get rid of this reference ?The REM stops the reference to Diskeeper for doing anything and the 'Trshoot indicates that the rem was added during a trouble shoot run, you normaly get this when you uncheck an item in the system configuration utility on a selective startup.The offending item could be in the autoexec.bat or the config.sys or even in the registry startup.Nb. this may be different uder XP but I don't know as I do not use XP :o Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
