hidserv.exe & windows 2000 professional

hi peeps first time entry on this forum so please forgive me if its posted in wrong section

a friend of mine has a problem with hidserv.exe and microsoft wireless optical mouse

here what happens hidserv.exe error on boot as soon as mouse is moved

and here is what we have done and now at a loss as to cure the problem

uninstalled hardware, uninstalled software, reinstalled hardware, reinstalled software....two or three times, uninstalled software, unplugged hardware, plugged back in, recognised hardware, downloaded lastest driver from microsoft, installed....still no dif

we have also up dated the bios and chipset

and all this with windows 2000 professional

any help would be great
