Guest PC Eejit
System A:Pentium 4 2.53ghz, GeForce4 Ti4600 128mb Dx9 AGP4xSystem B:AthlonXP 2400+, Radeon Pro 9500 128mb Dx9 AGP 8xUsing 3DMark 01 , Both systems score in the 11,500+ range. Pretty much equal anyway.Using 3DMark 03, System A gets 1680, System B get 2446  What's going on here then? It can't just be for using AGP 8x !
Guest Cookie
I have been lead to believe that Athlons are faster than Pentiums Gig for Gig.
Guest PC Eejit
But then the scores in 3DMark 01 wouldn't be so similar
Guest Cookie
Oh yes, I missed that. Strange. :(
Guest PC Eejit
Thinking on, there must have been something wrong with the installation of "03" on System A.I'll reinstall it and try again tomorrow I think. There shouldn't be a 50% difference in the scores.

Guest PC Eejit
Same results again. I've had a search round various forums about 3D Mark 03 and people aren't happy with it. Pentium III's can trounce Pentium 4's scores for example  I think what's happened in my case is that there's a Dx9 test being performed on the Radeon test and it's missed out for the GeForce test (thus, losing points) which is causing the score to be so different compared to 3D Mark 01.That's all I can think of anyway :(

Scarthy © ® ™
The reasons for the scores are that the ATI card is built for Direct X9, like the 3DMark2003 benchmarker. Also the AGPx8 is better than x4.I also believe that ATI are now taking over from nVidia as the 'top spec/ driver provider'. ;) [Not Bias] V V V ;)
