Windows update denied by logo testing...

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am an XP home sp1 user. I can't update my computer using windows update. Every time I try to it tells me:

"The software you are about to install has not passed Windows logo testing to verify its compatibility with windows XP.

This software will not be installed. Please contact my system administrator."

Very cute since teh update comes from windows itself. I tried to install DirectX 9 and it said the same thing. I am given no options to ignore this message. I can install non windows programs just fine.

The only thing I have found through the computer help menus is an option in under Control panel - system - hardware - driver signing. In here there is an option to ignore the logo ttesting and install anyways. This does not appear to do anything. I have also tried running the computer in safe mode and installing. This did nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bewildered
