XP Pro install problems

Okay, brand new computer, brand new hard drives, everything new. I have 2 160 Gb hard drives, brand spankin new. I got a perfectly legitimate copy of XP Pro, and I get to the setup screen where I partition and format the hard drives. It formats, partitions, copies files to the windows installation folder, and then restarts. But instead of picking up where it left off, it goes back to where I select the partition. I select the partition and it goes on to say there is already an operating system installed on the hard drive. Since the hard drives are totally new, I'm at a bit of a loss. It says to C to continue, and I did. but it then says there is already a "\WINDOWS" folder, and if I continue it will delete it. I hit "L" to delete, it deletes, goes about copying files to the "Windows Installation Folder" like earlier. Followed by another restarting, it puts me back at the same screen where I select the partition, and I go through the same thing about there already being an operating system. After 5 or 6 times of this, I'm starting to get belligerent.

set the cd-rom to boot from HDD in the BIOS

When the comp reboots after loading the installation files... you get a little promt to say 'Press any key to boot from the CD' If you press any key then it will start all over again as you described. Next time you do it... just let it boot, don't press any key and then you will find set up will start automatically for you.
