Windows XP login problem

Hello,

This PC is on the univ domain I think. When I turn it on it automatically logs in using administrator password. Is there something I should do about that or it's something I should ask domain administrators or something?

Also another problem...After u turn it on in a while it says "Forced shutdown from NT authority" or something of that sort and tells you that you have 5 mins or so and shuts it down.

Any suggestions?

Forgot to add: It is Windows XP Professional.

The NT Authority System is usually tied in with sasser or blaster.

So I recomend doing a scan from http://housecall.trendmicro.com. If you can, run this in Safe Mode with Networking.

As for the auto-logon problem,

click Start > Run and type in 'control userpasswords2' without the '

You can either set it to have a different user log in automatically by putting a checkmark beside "Users must enter a password to log on to this computer" click apply then uncheck it and click OK. It will ask you for the default user/password to use to auto-log on.

or put a check beside the "Users must enter a password to log on to this computer" to have the users put in a password each time.

Well I will check it for viruses (Although i have Symantec anti-virus running all the time).

As for 'control userpasswords2' i already tried this before but i don't see "Users must enter a password to log on to this computer" checkbox...All I see is:

2 Tabs: Users and Advanced

then it has space to add/remove users and u can check their properties too

and then u can reset administrator password.

M$ provides this:

Click Start, and then click Run.

2. In the Open box, type control userpasswords2, and then click OK.

3. Clear the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" check box, then click Apply.

4. In the Automatically Log On window, type the password in the Password box, and then retype the password in the Confirm Password box.

5. Click OK to close the Automatically Log On window, and then click OK to close the User Accounts window.

To turn off auto logon, put a check in the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" box.

This is directly from M$.

Yes, I see...I can't use the method you gave me coz that PC is joined to a domain...

Scarecrow man: thanks! Everything worked.

Registry edit worked and now it requires login and I just did updates and shutdown LSASS problem disappeared.
