Question about Mozilla Tunderbird 1.0

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about using Thunderbird now that I am no longer using Mozilla suite 1.7 (So I am without a mail app).

My main question is this: Does it have a block feature where I can simply block addresses and it keeps them on a block list?

Also, does it have Subject and body filters that I can setup myself to delete messages with certain words (so that I never have to even see them)?

Thanks.

I think you can do what you require through the use of filters in Thunderbird.

You can run filters on e-mails before they are downloaded from the mail server - effectively blocking the e-mails from reaching your mail client. You can also filter by subject and body content (and Sender, Date, Who it was sent to, Recipients CC'd) It is pretty comprehensive; I think it has most of the bases covered as far as filtering/junk mail is concerned (You can also 'teach' the software to recognise junk mail that doesn't necessarily match one of your filters, but exhibits the characteristics of junk mail - the longer you teach it for the better it gets with it's guesses).

Also... the user interface looks fantastic on Windows XP. I can recommend it on that basis alone.
