WEP Security

I wasn't sure if posting this was the right thing, but I believe it's necessary information for those on WiFi networks that use WEP.

PLEASE NOT THAT AROUND 750MB OF TCP/IP TRAFFIC IS NEEDED TO "CRACK" WEP. THIS WILL TAKE A FEW DAYS OF HEAVY USAGE OR SOMETHING LIKE DOWNLOADING A LARGE ISO IMAGE.

THE FOLLOWING LINK CONTAINS LINKS TO SOFTWARE USED TO "CRACK" WEP ENCRYPTION USED ON WIRELESS NETWORKS. WINDOWS FORUM DOES NOT CONDONE USE OF THESE PRODUCTS FOR ILLEGAL USE.

Actually decided to post it huh? I'm just hoping someone doesn't happen to come across this link and use this information for the wrong purposes.... Although, half of America is running unsecured networks anyway.

The people who abuse it would probably be able to easily find it without this post?

Hopefully our visitors will find that WEP, while better than nothing, does NOT keep people from breaking into their wireless networks. :)

The people that would utilise this type of exploit, and break into wireless networks though are, for lack of a better term, script kiddies and are the scum of the earth. Rigth there with spammers and malware writers. They wouldn't know how to research anything.

I'm sorry, did I say script kiddies? I meant l337 H4x0rZ

But on a much lighter note - this information does need to be brought into the public scope, so people can see that while yes, it is some protection, it's not a very good layer and can be cracked with little effort, and a lot of patience.
