New graphics card

I have a voodoo4 running on an athlon 1ghz 1gb sdram and 2xHDD (1 40 and 1 80gb)

I have a few flight sims which I play now and again but I have thought about getting a new graphics card as I would like dual monitor support at some point (I do video editing)

What I really want to know is I have thought about a Ti4200 but dont really want to spend over £100 (wifes new horse is costing me a fortune <_< )

I have read that the radeon 8500le is a good budget card but would it be a drastic improvement on the voodoo with regards to my flight sims?

Should I bite the bullet and go for a Ti4200 and not feed the horse for a few weeks or would the radeon 8500le be a good buy?

Cheers in advance

I have an 8500LE 64MB and I think it's a great card. Flashed to the retail ATI 275/275 bios.

My highest 3DMark2001 SE score is 8702 (untweaked).

Crucial do a 128MB version for £52.99 +vat...Click Here.

;)

...failing the 8500 LE, I would go for the new 9800 pro from ATI and do as L3@©H¥ ²°°³ says - You could do without food yourselves and live off the horse for weeks. :D

maybe .. but aren't second editions supposed to better than the prev version .. ?

from the facts i'd say its stripped-down edition :P

GeForce4 Ti 4800 Vertices per Second:136 Million

Fill Rate:4.8 Billion AA Samples/Sec.

Operations per Second:1.23 Trillion

Memory Bandwidth:10.4GB/Sec.

Maximum Memory:128MB

GeForce4 Ti 4800 SE Vertices per Second:125 Million

Fill Rate:4.4 Billion AA Samples/Sec.

Operations per Second:1.12 Trillion

Memory Bandwidth:8.8GB/Sec.

Maximum Memory:128 mb

Ps: am i hijacking this thread .. ? should i start a new one .. ?

Doesn't the computer slow down to the frame rate on the slowest card anyway................? thinking about having two monitors myself !

i was thinking of adding a pci card and using an older monitor with the one i use now.. does that mean that the system will run at the speed of the pci one .. ? i don't think so... do you ?
